The elective designation is awarded by the , the , and the .

The prestigious classification recognizes institutions that have committed to campus-wide efforts to advance leadership in pursuit of public goods including justice, equity, diversity and liberty.

Leadership Development Initiatives at �鶹�Ӵ�ý������� State University

Committed to developing the next generation of purpose-driven leaders, �鶹�Ӵ�ý������� has numerous leadership initiatives available to students, faculty and staff, including:

• NextGen Service Corps, which fills a critical educational gap by preparing undergraduates from all disciplines for public service careers
• The Bonner Leader Program, which is a comprehensive, four-year program that provides students with civic engagement and public service opportunities
• The PSEG Green Teams program, which is an internship program that lets teams of students serve corporations, organizations, nonprofits, municipalities and community groups to address sustainability issues
• Leadership University, an eight-week employee development program for new managers
• The Higher Education Academic Leadership program, which provides leadership development opportunities for faculty while they identify and study important challenges facing higher education and develop solutions centered on student, faculty and university success

The University has also been an engaged partner in critical civic endeavors since its inception in 1908, building an institutional culture that champions leadership for public purpose with initiatives including One Square Mile, a place-based approach to community revitalization in Paterson, N.J., and The Charles J. Muth Museum of Hinchliffe Stadium.
